Hi, I guess you can say I have jumped back in to motorcycles in a big way. My first cycle was a 1969 BSA Victor single cylinder 441cc that I owned in the early 70s- and that was my first and last until now. MY mechanical and motorcycle passion finally won out and I found something to dig my teeth into.

Now I hope I won't be shunned by this forum because technically this bike is a little right of center for a Z1/Z2 classics site. It is a 2005 KZ1000P police pursuit motorcycle (530 LB). If anyone feels a sense of outrage please let me know and I will fade quietly into the night. However, many of the same Kawasaki parts and repair suggestions apply- as do basic processes.

I have had it for 3.5 weeks and already I have the carbs off, and the top end off to the cylinder block with the cylinder block and pistons next. I thought it would be good to share some of my experiences, photos and screw ups and also have a chance to ask some questions.

I am looking for a low cost police bike, but I want something a little older. Last winter I had a chance to buy a 1975 police version, but it was on the other side of the country (Canada) from me and I decided against it. Generally the police versions seem to be cheaper than the sport versions. Not sure why...they make excellent touring bikes.

Hi there - a very nice bike indeed. I live in Copenhagen, Denmark where we do not have police bikes like this (all are new modern models).

How/where did you get it, and is it still possible to get bikes like this even if you are from Denmark?

Brgds.,
Hans

Hi keconinsanfran,
Welcome to The aZylum! You and the KZ-P are most welcome here! Nice find, too.
How did you get the carb bodies so spotlessly clean?

Good Ridin'
